I was thinking of doing an MBA in one of the top 100 b' schools and I see they want you to take a GMAT test what would they usually consist of? and how can I better prepare my self for the test?

Just as well it doesn't test initiative. There is a whole website about it by the people who run it. If I remember correctly it is www.mba.com

That was a cheap shot I have had a look at the website and I thought I would get some advice from anyone who had taken them previously

In no way is it a cheap shot. You asked a stupid question, and not even the one that that you would like answered, it would seem. Now that you have looked on the appropriate site (where there are practice questions) you will have an idea of the content. My personal recommendation would be to see if you can go to a Kaplan centre and get a free diagnostic test as a baseline of where you are now without any preparation. This will highlight areas for attention. I wouldn't bother with the course as they are quite expensive. The Kaplan books and CDs are good, though, and have plenty of practice tests. Note though that the Kaplan tests are harder than the real one so don't be too downhearted with your score - you may well get 20 more on the day.Allow plenty of time to prepare - depends on personal ability and targets - but 2 months+ might be a good starting point. There is loads more detailed information out there if you just look for it.
