Hi,I'm in the position of two verbal offers, one from EY and one from Deloitte. Both in the same sector and same location. I got the EY offer first at Senior Consultant level at a package I'm happy with. Then Deloitte matched the package but at Consultant level. They're reasoning is they aren't sure I'm quite there yet in terms of being a Senior vs a Consultant but want to hire me so are happy to match the EY Senior Consultant package but not the grade level.I'd be coming in as an experienced hire with approx. 3 years experience but in a totally different sector than the one I'd be moving to. I can't decide if it makes more sense to come in lower at the same salary/package (Deloitte) or if it makes more sense to come in higher (EY) as I am an experience hire and is it a snub on the work I've done previously.Any advice would be much appreciated.

Which part of EY has the offer come from? Risk? PI?

Both roles are within tech consulting in Financial Services. EY is advisory.

Do you have a better feeling with Deloitte or EY? Both companies will be very similar, some teams within Deloitte will be great, some will not. It will be the same in EY. Try to not get too hung up on job titles and I wouldn't make it a deciding factor. They don't exactly map between the two companies. Consultant in Deloitte is the first promotion from their grad scheme, as is Senior Consultant in EY.

I think the EY three interviews were more thorough in the sense it explored my previous project history better than the Deloitte assessment centre which felt more like box ticking. Having said that I have friends (albeit much more senior than I'll be going in at) in both companies who are very happy so I do see what you're saying in terms of both being very similar. In terms of the job titles and it being one promotion in from the grad scheme, do you have a link of the title structure at both firms? That is quite useful as I hadn't realised the difference.

EY:Consultant (Graduate scheme) Senior Con Manager Senior ManagerDirector Partner or Exec Director Deloitte:Analyst (Graduate)Consultant Senior ConsultantManagerSenior ManagerDirectorPartnerSo you can see you're coming in at the second tier in each firm.My experience is that both firms offer good training to their grads and both have good brands. Maybe Deloitte has the better brand.
