Dear AllHaving cut my teeth consulting, productivity consulting, a couple of generations ago, I have now returned to the consulting arena - older wiser and quite possibly in better physical shape than wild days of making people redundant and drowning sorrows in a long gone economic downturn. Now looking to return very much more knowledgable; but will people look at my birth certificate age and turn off? Roles in mentoring and building senior management/director level skills should be there - where? Advice please.Having spent the last few years working in chaotic settings of East Africa at diplomatic levels and also with sometimes unaccountable structures, then maybe I bring fresh perspectives. Will these work back in the UK? Or advice please on where to pitch to further work in what is euphemistically called development.Look forward to hearing from a few people with thoughts, insights and guidanceYoursP

I think their main concern might be that you seemingly wish to "mentor and build senior management/director level skills" and "bring fresh perspectives". In contrast to that, your consultancy employer might want somebody that is willing to do actual hard work and write excellent reports. Too many people in this game these days don't want to do the hard work such as research, analysis and report-writing, instead preferring to "share their experience" and chat at meetings...
