How are Parthenon thought of as a firm? Are they considered experts in any field, or particularly strong in any field/industry?What are the career prospects like after completing the Associate-level program?

I'm not exactly blown away by their website. Grey photos of corporate drones standing outside office buildings. Yuck. Nice font and shade of blue though. Not blown away by their case studies section either. 6 examples? Is that all? Also, the 'day in the life' section paints a grim picture. Rolling over at 7am in the morning to check the Blackberry, when all the kid seems to do all day is write presentations? That's *not* what *I* aspire to!So in summary - I don't really know what to make of it. Maybe phone their offices at various hours of the evening and see how many of them are still there? They look like the sort who probably finish around 8.30 every night - so not too bad, not too great either. I couldn't get a handle on what travel would be like with them... any ideas?

Are there any other thoughts on this, rather than the aesthetics of their website?

"They look like the sort who probably finish around 8.30 every night"So specific, I'd love to hear the logic behind this.

I have a friend who started there a while back but left recently. They seem to work an extremely interesting and varied projects, many of which are international. But don't worry there isn't much travel involed, most of the work is London-based.It seems quite a demanding place to work considering in terms of hours. Having said that, the starting salary is pretty good. I would guess it's probably £32-34k now. Plus there are bonuses, and the usual benefits. And since it's a small office, there is a good atmosphere.

Thanks for the input king rollo. Does the London office not act as an EMEA hub, or does the amount of PE work they conduct mean that there are a lot of London based projects?

To be honest, I don't know much about the ins and outs of the firm. Your best bet is asking them directly or checking the website. All I know is that it's a very young firm (in terms of ages of staff) and a good working environment as everyone likes to have a good time once work is over ;-) The London office is a hub for EMEA (but probably not the only one) and a growing portion of what they do is PE.

Parthenon was started by a couple of Bain guys I think. So their culture might be skewed towards the Bain side rather than the McK side? I can definitely see where the PE and VC work pedigree comes from though.

Sudoku, what do you mean by their culture being skewed towards the Bain side rather than the McK side?

Anon,What I mean is the fundamental difference between the way McK and Bain operates.McK is very much the traditional strategy consulting firm, where many engagements (not saying all) culminates in a formal presentation or a thick report. This is because many McK clients are big blue chip corporations departments or government bureaucracies. The Bain camp is slightly different. The clients are generally (not saying all) smaller and more entrepreneurial types. So they are much more focused on driving results and following through with results. Bain are more into testing out red hot business models in the client organisation to drive op profit up by x% or improve share earnings by x cents. So what I'm saying is that Parthenon could well be in the Bain camp of consulting of small teams working on sharp engagements to drive results. As opposed to formal studies for sub departments of massive companies.
