Just wondering if anyone (maybe someone at ACN) can explain a little better this change in structure. Previously, BSI- this group is now Analyst Consulting Group. Is this a change meant to seperate the technies from nontechies and thus a move to make ACG more aligned to the management platform. Or is this just rhetoric?Any insight would be greatly appreciated since noone at HR is willing to return calls or answer emails...

To answer the question... essentially the ACG will now work cross industry and possibly have more opportunities to develop generic consulting and leadership skills than in the past. There will also be more options to do work in the MCIM service lines as well as in SI and Tech. The vision is to offer junior people a broader and more flexible expereince early in their careers although it remains to be seen if it really works out that way in practice. I am not sure if HR would ever offer such a frank explanation!

We have a big thing about it on Thur but I think the general idea is that rather than being alligned to an industry group that it's hard to move out of, you can work accross them all and if you have some SAP skills for example, you can take a role in any perating group as its more about matching skills to clients.Makes sense to me, in practice it will make no difference to my job as i'll still be at the same client doing the same stuff. Yay.

Listen, if you are joining as a new analyst you will be at the mercy of whatever work is going at the time. What projects do you want? What would you be good at? can you answer those questions? You should be able to but most analysts cannot. You need to do some more research my friend.

I dont want to get off topic, but basically just administrative problems where I turn in paperwork and they lose it, or calls and emails go unanswered..trying to get a hold of someone is completely impossible. I had another issue where an internal recommendation wasn't being processed for whatever reason... anyway, this is all beside the point.Im only hoping that trying to navigate the system isn't as difficult. I know networking is obviously important, but are there any other tips for getting on the kinds of projects one finds interesting? Is there a database analysts can access to see what positions/projects are going on, vacancies etc.?

Well, it depends. If you build a good relationship with your HR rep that will make it easier but it also depends on your alignment. if you want to do "strategy" work for example but are not aligned to strategy it will be much harder. However, if you want to test large systems then you will have an Aladdin's cave of choice.
