Power of Greyskull was a successful management consultant. He now heads up an Executive Search firm. His expert knowledge of both recruitment and management consulting make him quite unique within the recruitment industry. He is the man to ask. If you are lucky, he might even offer you a job

As "by not me but I know who to ask" says, I indeed made the switch a few years back. I think you have to consider a few points that are often overlooked:1) The job is repetitive2) If you don't do deals you are out - be prepared to work under alot of pressure3) It is not easy to get work from clients, nor is it easy to get candidates to apply for jobs. You do have to work very hard to do a deal.4) Pay is excellent if you are a good biller, some people here are earning £100k+, 2 years out from university.5) The work is not mentally challenging once you get over the novelty factorMy advise - The best recruiters (from a commercial perspective) are generally people who are extremly money motivated, do not mind spending 10 hours a day on the phone, and who are competitive. Another consideration is the company you are joining. An established recruiter will already have account managers "owning" the best clients in your area. You may find out that you are left with a bunch of cr£p clients

Yes.Recruitment is a tough olf gig, and certainly is right now. If you are working for someone else, you can be judged in a very one-dimensional way - the money you pull in.It's the most difficult sell in the world as both the buyer and the thing being bought have an opinion!!!However, when things are going well, it is great fun and for focused, single minded people with drive and ambition, it can be very rewarding.
