All:First of all, thanks to this forum and its members, I've been able to gather some very useful info. on UK IT-Consulting careers. I was recently offered a job in Atos Origin's SI division. GCM grade 6 and a pay of 70k + 7k (bonus). I have 7 years of experience. Just wanted to hear your views on the grade and package.

The SI division of Atos Origin is the crown jewel of the group. However, as in any other consultancy, you will encounter lots of travel, work-life balance can be compromised during the duration of a specific assignment. It is difficult to provide a feedback about the salary package without knowing your skillset or the role you have been offered. However, in any case 70K for GCM level 6 is considered a good package if not very good package within Atos Origin SI. I know of friends, who are on GCM level 5 and earn 55k.Hope it helps.

I agree with the above response. It is a good package, especially for SI but be warned about the travelling

Ex Atos

Having wroked at Atos for some time ( and left) I feel I should make the following points to anyone thinking of applying: Atos is strong on process definition and business process reengineering optimisation, however it is not so strong on operational risk management and control framework definition and implementation. I found Atos very parochial in it sales and marketing approach, it didn't take a pragmatic and holistic view of its capabilites and service offering, thus it always never manged to get the work it should of done. One of the operational and strategic issues it faces is redefining its core capabilities and service strengths. It very much adopts a 'best of breed' appraoch to service delivery. Whilst this may be fine with orgs with unlimited money to spend, the canny finacially literate client are demanding a far more pragmatic and enduring set of frameworks, which I'm afraid Atos is still trying hard to deliver.

I'm a currently working for Atos in the SI division and I agree with much of what Ex Atos said above. I believe things are changing slowly in order to define and present Atos core capabilities to prospective clients. In this effort, a new CEO was recruited along with other senior management staff....and so far positive changes have happend.Thanks.

Thank you all. Really useful feedback. My area of expertise is Oracle Fusion M/W. Having been with consulting for couple of years, I know the travel hassles but am fine with it for now. Hope to see "ted" soon in Atos :)
