Hi.I've been offered a position with ACN in Management consulting position with SUpply chain group. I have 8 years exp from industry (non-MBA...but managed several large 3pl consulting engagements), and am only being creditied with 2 years within ACN, and therefore entering as a C2. Now...If I am being credited with 2 years of experience, shouldn't I be entering as a C3??I ask because my first and foremost goal is promotion to Manager, and my understanding is that if I enter as a C2, I would need to work 2 years before being considered for manager. Thanks for any help.

Had consulting experience with close to same years of experience as you have and got offered same level in same group. Needless to say i didn't take the offer. You were credited with 3 yrs of experience and not 2 yrs.

RIght...I was told that I would be credited with 24 months of experience and enter as a C2. Something does not make sense...If I started today, would I be up for manager in Sept 2008?The HR rep says yes, but all of my research says no. Is it possible that she is just trying to get me to sign on the dotted line.Anon...In retrospect, did you make the right move...did you find something better.

It would be very unusual for a C2 to make manager, it's quite a regimented company in that respect with only stupidly profitable projects and superstars making early promotion. If coming in at C2 I think it would be your C2 then C3 yr then M1. With that much experience I'd be trying for manager, it's a big jump in money from C3 to there.

Either the HR rep is misinformed about issues directly related to their position, or they are trying to cheat me...either way, it reflects very poorly on the company.Has anyone had similar experiences where HR misrepresents job/position/rank?

Joining at C2, you clearly have a minimum of 2 years to spend before you are considered for Manager in Sept 2009. Should your performance be exceptional and you are staffed on very good projects, then you could make manager in March 2009, if there is still march promotion.

Wendel, I got a much better offer also in consulting, but changed functions as I had some other skillset.
