Accenture exit opportunities

ACN

Well, having spent 3 years with Accenture strategy it seems the name is so tainted that nobody considers us "strategy" consultant any longer. This is very frustrating. I am finding there are VERY few appealing exit opportunities in the market right now because people are so put off by the brand.

What kind of exit opportunities do you wish to consider?

Well, I am looking at PE and business development/strategy teams in large corporates, focusing mainly on consumer goods.

I am finding the same problem. Operational roles only EVEN for people in strat. ACN Strategy seems to be something of a joke among elite employers.

The same person is talking to himself on this thread. Ignore the pessimism. You are clearly incompetent and rather useless, with a limited view of the marketplace.

To the Dumbo that claims to be god. You are more of a goat.Answer his question in a matured manner or shut up. He has his points and it could have been from experience. If your experience is that Strategy folks are valued in the market then great. Take you so called opinion and put it on the forum but not come back with some silly nameand no point to help the individual. If you are employed in ACN then they surely made a big mistake in hiring you

Realistic

Just want to add a thing:I've worked both in industry and as consultant. (currently as a consultant)Wouldnt you guys agree that within the consulting industry the mgmt/strat conaultants are considered "higher" or "cooler" but when it comes to hireability in industry it is often better to have both hands on experience and mgmt experience. Atleast thats what ive experienced, and when i look at ads for managerial roles they often include requirements for actual knowledge of how to actually do things. (At least in the technology area)

Realistic I agree with you.My advice is get both if you can and start with the operational/technology consulting side then pure strategy as you may want to put it.

Strat

I TOTALLY disagree with the last post. Strategy consulting and technology consulting are very different, requiring different perspectives and mindsets. I know so many technology consultants who think they can call something technical "strategic" and that makes it "strategy". Nonsense.

you are probably right, initial poster. Accenture is a great route into technology consulting or system integration firms. In terms of pure strategy, you probably need a boutique or tier 1 strat firm for a year or so before making the move.
