hi !i have managed small construction projects back in my country very successfully and here in london i have been approved as a Dulux approved painter after working on my own for 5 years.my age is 44 and want a change in career as eventually i cant cope with the physical nature of the work involve.Can someone direct me as to wether there is such a thing as construction consultancy. i know for a fact that if i do a degree in construction management i will be able to get a job here or in dubai in particular, but my fear is that by the time degree finishes i will be 48, will someone be willing to give me a job and salary enough for me and my family to survive on.the other path available to me is doing an MBA specialise in Human resource management. But again is MBA in construction a worthwhile field to get into especially moneywise or other in dubai or here.plz advice my future involve here. many thanksakram

I think you might be asking in the wrong place. There are certainly plenty of jobs in construction consultancy in the UK and Dubai but no such job as "construction consultant". Rather, the consultants are professional engineers and surveyors and these jobs require relevant degrees (3-4 year undergraduate degrees not MBAs). Both are very worthy jobs but take quite a long time to qualify and are not always all that well paid, especially at the start. I guess you would be looking at £20-30,000 per annum tax free in Dubai.Both PwC and Deloitte have areas of consultancy dealing with construction but this would be even further down the line as they require professional experience in the industry.
