Hello all,I have a telephone interview with IBM next week to become an L&D Consultant as part of their HCM service area (I should add that this is my first looks at becoming a Managament Consultant).Does anybody have any advice or tips for me in passing this stage? Are there any usual questions in the world of Management Consulting that I should be prepared for?Kind regards,James.

C'mon, there must be some people out there willing to admit they work for IBM!Jesting aside, their HCM function is regarded as highly productive. Can't offer you any specific guidance on the IBM recruitment myself though.Best of luck.

As with all stages in recruitment they are opportunities to be rejected. Your goal is just to get to the next stage.First be prepared for the obvious questions - tell me about yourself; why should we recruit you etc..; and for the obvious challenges - you don't have consulting experience etc..; and to put a couple of your own burning questions to demonstrate your interest.Second as it is by phone keep all answers short. Detail is for face to face interview. You just need to get to the next stage so don't ramble on.Same applies to all telephone interviews and IBM is very similar to the others.

I had a telephone interview for the same role. They ask you about your experience in the field, general stuff about what projects you have worked on, what you got out of them. The interviewer I got was very friendly and actually made it a pleasure rather than a stressfull experience. The next stage is an assessment day.....not sure of the set up there. So if any have been to it, I would appreciate some pointers in terms of what they will look/test for.
