Hi AllAside from the typical full / part time MBA courses, what is the perception of the community (and, by extension, future employers) of courses offered by the top business schools in their "Executive Education" offerings? I'm ambivalent about the future value of an MBA, I'm not particularly looking to jump ship from my present empoyer and I cannot afford the luxury of spending 1 year without a salary. However I would like to extend some of the formal education on my CV by looking at perhaps the shorter term courses offered by places like LBS, INSEAD, IMD etc. Typically these are 3-4 weeks in length and can be easily managed in the context of a full time job.My motivations would be self-development and developing my network - but i would be interested in understanding how they are perceived by firms, recruiters and my peers. Are they the poor cousins of MBAs or can they be an interesting additions to CVs in their own right? Thanks for your inputs.Arby

Just do what everyone else does. Sign up to a 3 day "executive education" distance learning thing from Harvard Business School or go there for a conference, and then say you did a course at Harvard Business School and mention the name about 50 times on your CV. You can get about 50% of the value of the MBA just by associating yourself with the brand LOL.

Yeah, a sales guy I worked with in a former role had INSEAD and LBS on his CV in the education section. He was a bit vague when questioned, but after a bit of digging it turned out he's done a one/two day course at each.He was crap at sales too, just in case you were wondering, but quite good at taking the credit (and bonuses) for other people's results.EC
