Hi,I'm attempting to escape the public sector carnage by jumping ship to E&Y. I've been dodging the salary expectations question so far but have my 2nd interview next week.Does anyone know what the payscale is for a senior consultant in programme advisory in London?I'm on £45k at present plus public sector perks, with 4 years experince plus good academic/ project management quals. I think I'd need about £55k to make it worth while and I'd like £60k- would that be completely out of the ballpark?Cheers

Probably not, but you get £45k in the public sector... with 4 years experience?! No wonder the books don't balance.I would think the salary they have in mind will be £50-55k plus benefits allowance of c.£5k.As for making it worth your while - I understand your point but surely you have to go back to your first line. A lot of people will be up for the chop, and you are more expensive than avergage to retain, and less expensive than average to get rid of...

Thanks for the advice. I totally take your point about my pay vs years experience. I think I have more experience than just the years suggest but I imagine everyone thinks that! Will take your input into account when discussing the salary.

Looks like I should have entered the public sector 4 years ago and then made the move to consulting

Only 4 years? I'd need to go back 8 years. Plus I could have enjoyed all those substantial public sector perks in the meantime, such as total lack of accountability, very short working hours, gold plated pension, total lack of travel, and comfortable working conditions.

Hobnob, when did you apply for the pas position? Im looking at it but they say they've capped applications at senior consultant grade as they've reached subscription for this qtr. Been told although the CV is of interest to wait til Sept when they will go round another recruitment cycle...problem is i graduate from MBA in sept & am looking to find a role early oct no later...i cant afford to sit it our til dec!
