Hi all, Just wondering if anyone else is in a similar position/need your advice. I had my AC with Deloitte back in July and was verbally offered a role at Senior Consultant level within the Human Capital practice. Since July I have received various messages from Deloitte/my recruiter on getting the contract release. The last I heard earlier this week was that they won't be releasing offers in this area until January. Anyone else think this is a bit fishy/have an insider knowledge on what's possibily going on here. Very frustrating!

As it happens I wrote an article here on Top-Consultant just today covering off this exact phenomenon, we've been hearing of it a lot:http://news.top-consultant.com//Why-the-Booming-Jobs-Market-in-Consulting-Feels-Anything-But-Booming-14842.htmlDoesn't help with your predicament I appreciate, but at least you know it's an increasingly widespread issue in the industry.Rgds, Tony RestellFounder, http://www.Top-Consultant.com and http://www.Social-Hire.com

This exact thing happened to me!I had my last interview in early October 2015. I got my verbal offer 10/5/15 (the following Monday). I was told I needed to sign and accept the offer by Friday of that week. Friday came with no paperwork and instead a call from the recruiter, saying there was a delay bcz the partner hadn't gotten around to signing the offer. No big deal, it should be in by next week. Next week rolls around and now there was a reorg in the CEC group so offers were frozen for a few weeks. I wait patiently. I get another call two weeks later and the recruiter says that offers will now go out in January. Meaning 3 months from the time they gave me a verbal offer for the Senior Consultant role in the eCommerce and Portals group. My main concern is being left high and dry come January. Anyone else experience anything like this? Thanks!

That's completely unprofessional of Deloitte. They need to starting treating candidates with respect. Candidates will lose trust and go elsewhere to competitors. I've heard a few cases on this forum over last year or so where they are making offers and then either freezing or putting them on hold. To be ethical, if they say they are going to make an offer, they need to honour their commitments (my word is my bond) and not mess people around.

Hi MC,I passed my AC in late April and still waiting on my offer ! I interviewed in the London office, and the HR guy phoned me 8 days after the Assessment Centre saying that I passed and wanted to discuss the offer over the phone. I politely said thank you and that I was in a meeting and will get back to him. However, since I have not been able to get through to his phone and he's not responded to my emails - Very unprofessional firm. That's why I stopped chasing the offer and have started applying for other firms.

Sorry to hear other people are in a similar position to me. It's very odd to hear that they are still holding assessment centres as despite apparently being on a Recruitment Freeze and a new head of consulting refusing to sign any offers in areas where there is a bench. Thinking it's time to give up and focus on other applications. Let me know if anything ever comes through!!

I had a similar experience with Deloitte in May where the recruiter Bradley phoned me to verbally offer a role and then radio silence for months. I joined a competitor as a result and my friend lost their referral fee. Very unprofessional firm with respect to recruitment.

EY is so quick - got a referral and days later phone interview, one week later final interview in Transaction Advisory. Even though I got rejected 2 days later, they were so professional and quick with everything! Alvarez & Marsal - same thing - referral and super quick through process, very down to earth people who just get on and do it - no 100 stage approval loops like Deloitte. As an aside an extremely senior head of PwC consulting said when he was at Deloitte Partners used to do everything they were told by the big boss. Now's he's really senior in PwC he says partners just ignore what he tells them and hires candidates anyway even if loads of consultants on the bench because they don't want to miss top talent. He said to us at a networking event he admires his Partners for actually exercising judgement and doing what they think is right rather than following "the rules" !!

Wish I had seen this post earlier. I'm also in a similar state, got a call saying I have passed all the rounds back in Oct beginning. Mentioned that the freeze was only supposed to be short term for Deloitte Consulting.Has anyone started hearing from Deloitte yet? Was hoping with 2016 upon they would have budget open to hire.

Apparently head of consulting is refusing to sign off any offers in areas where there is a bench. I've been given no confirmation over timeframes, only that I should get an update in Jan/Feb time. Ridiculous.

January is a pretty dead month. Probably more like Feb or March before utilisation levels pick up. Deloitte financial year ends in May but I don't think that makes a difference in this case.As we saw from the KPMG annual report this week, 2014 was a one off boom year for Financial Services advisory/consulting that all 4 are struggling to repeat. 2015 and 2016 will be much slower years for big 4 professional services with the wild card of audit wins damaging lots of existing projects and all future prospects with that client apart from the Audit mandate.
