All,The department at my international non-profit in DC was restructured and my role laid off after 4 years. This was my first professional role after graduating with an international relations degree from undergrad and I’m evaluating my next career steps. I’ve been reflecting a lot on my own passions, interests and what I want to get from my next role. After reflection, I’m interested in consulting for the below reasons. - Higher salary (mid-40s USD in non-profit)- Learning new skills and industries (my old role got stale)- Connecting to a larger network I can tap into (limited to the few colleagues in HQ)However, I realize there are a huge number of industries to consult in out there. Based on what this forum knows (and anyone else interested in chatting with me further), what are some potential industries I could start researching and identifying possible consulting firms? What are some ‘hot’ areas (cybersecurity?) to consult in?I also add that I’ve been investing technology consulting firms already. I have experience with Google Apps for Work experience helping manage our internal website and train my colleagues on the new cloud service tools and services. I have observed a few obstacles (cloud jobs require a technical degree, cloud jobs require certifications on that cloud service) after doing networking calls on these roles. I have neither of these. So, any thoughts on my questions?Thanks.-p
