Hi – and thanks for reading!I am in need for your expertise and counsel and would very much appreciate it as it might very well change the course of my life. It might be a bit long so I thank you in advance for your time. After High school in Switzerland I decided to pursue a B.A. in Economics in Japan, my reasoning was that: pretty much everybody was going either to the US or UK for Business, and given that I would not get into any top tier Uni given my grades. I concluded that it would be good to differentiate myself from the rest in another way. So I enrolled at Sophia University in Tokyo; however classes ended up being not very good, but, thanks to the Internet I am able to educate myself with good material from free courses offered by Yale and MIT. Plus Sophia is a pretty well known University in Japan. I am now in my second year of Uni, and currently doing an exchange year in Shanghai and at the same time trying to help some of my family business to get into China, which is proving a good experience but with not much future hope (I will not get to this in detail so I will leave it at that).Last year I worked for a small consultant firm Valecon and it was a great experience and I have decided that I would like to get into the field. It is for that reason that I am trying to think about the best course of action for me to take to be able to start a career in Management Consulting. I really like living in Japan and would love to start my career there if possible but the economy is not very good so that might be an issue. My Japanese is now highly conversational and will be fluent by the time I graduate if that is the course of action I decided to take. As of now, I am carefully considering what next step to take in life. I am turning 21 next month.1. To finish my degree at Sophia and in the meantime look for internships and such and then hopefully start my career in Tokyo.2. To transfer to another University, maybe in Singapore, or HK. This would most certainly prolong my time as a student and also increase my educational expense. However it would increase my employment potential in the field.I feel like I am facing the choice of, either losing career potential given the macro environment in Japan but have the luxury to live in a country that I really like, versus sacrificing that personal joy for a better career development elsewhere. Thanks again for your time, look forward to your answers.Ignacio
