I would say not. Other readers may disagree, but my (subjective!) opinion is that the brand is just not on in the same league...

ACN C2 level to TCS is not a credible move.

it's simple tommys - if you follow the money from ACN to TCS at your level of experience you will find it hard to get back to a top MC firm afterwards. What looks like a nice pay rise now will cost you a few years hence.

[/quote]so is it wise to stay with ACN until i get manager and then move to a well known company?or wud it hurt to move now since i have so close to manager?

Tommys,I'm assuming this is the first time you've been approached in this manner. This is an excellent time to learn some skills that will stand you in good stead for the rest of your career.First of all decide what you want in the next 5-10 years. If you want to work in technology for another few years before getting a job as a mid-level manager in the IT department of a bank or utilities then I suspect Tata is a perfectly acceptable brand to do this with. What you do at Tata will be more important than their brand. If you decide that you want to stay in consulting then the acn brand will be of far more value than TCS. Progression to Manager will open doors at places like EY, Deloitte, etc.If you decide to go to Tata then you get a bunch of money - simple. When you get your next big increase is rather open to debate. If you decide not to go to Tata then you need to maximise the opportunity. Go to your accenture manager and explain that you have been approached. Explain that you really went to the interview just for experience, not really expecting to be impressed. However, you were really pleasantly surprised by how professional Tata are and now they've come back with a fantastic offer. Show him the letter/e-mail. Explain that you didn't have any intention of leaving as you love accenture, but you're really had your eyes opened to the opportunities at other firms. They really made you feel special, offering you a really interesting role. Stress that while it’s not all about money, the increase in salary would help a lot right now as you’re trying to buy a house/trying to pay off some debts/some other important financial activity. Explain you are in a quandry - you know the accenture culture is all about excelling and standing out from the crowd, and here you find yourself doing just that, but in the eyes of a competitor. Ask your manager what he would do if one EY or PWC offered him a huge raise to move?Do not simpy make it about the money - make it about what the money will allow you to do. The first sounds greedy and transactional. The second sounds like you can’t afford to turn down such a great raise. At best you will get a raise at acn.Mid-table result is that you get no added cash, but you reposition yourself in the eyes of the career managers and cenhance your path to managerWorse outcome is that they express genuine surprise that TATA would pay you so highly - in which case you might want to rethink taking the offer - it woud mean ACN dont rate you.

60 is not “near” Manager salary at Accenture, including allowances 70 is nearer the mark. Mr Cool has given you the best advice, however, I would be wary about trying to get a counter offer from Accenture. I seriously doubt it would be successful as pay rises and promotions are very rigid and process driven. Probably in a smaller firm this would work, but not in a company the size of Accenture as your line manager will have pretty limited impact on HR/pay decisions. I’m not saying don’t try it, but I would be surprised if you get a raise in your base salary out of it…

Shy about bringing up money? Hmmm. One of the most eye-opening moments in any boy/man's life is the moment they realise that women like $ex too! Suddenly they realise that their quest is a mutual one. There is no difference with money. You like getting paid, your boss likes getting paid, the HR rep likes getting paid, the Managing Partner likes getting paid (likes it more than anyone!). You don’t have to descend immediately into vulgar propositions, but there's no need to be shy in broaching the subject.Get comfortable with it, or get used to going without.

I thought Tommy's alias sounded familiar, so I did a quick search to catch up. Good stuff, quick summary - he's been asking about moving to this company or that on a regular basis for the last two years. This seems to be due to the fact that he's been forced into testing, has been rated below average, is not happy with his role, and his friends earn more than him.Given how unhappy he seems to be at ACN, I'd say make a move and get the money. Specialising in testing isn't such a bad thing, and also means that there isn't a huge difference between being a test manager at ACN, IBM, or TCS. If you make a move every few years should help bump up your salary, and you might even find a place you enjoy working.
