Dear All,Just a bit of background before the question!I am an IT Consultant with 13 years experience working on the technical aspects of Oracle ERP. Used to work for Oracle Consulting before starting to freelance and been doing it for 5 years now. Worked for most of the big name IT consultancies as well as several private and public sector clients across various industries...so long days/staying aways is not new to me..however strarting to get tired of it now!I have been doing my MBA part-time in Aston University,Birmingham and now in my final year. Just wondering where to go from here...what are my career options...I have done project lead roles and managed projects and I am a PRINCE2 practitioner as well, but not quite keen to go back to Mainstream IT roles(definitely not the handson ones)...Been interested in strategy consulting and have chosen to specialize my MBA in it .Can someone throw some ideas regarding career options. I don't want to start from a very junior level in a company if it involves a career change...

No strat firm is going to consider you valluvan - just the brutal truth. The non target MBA, technical experience etc. You just arent a strategy candidate. And besides, if you are already getting tired of long days and staying away...that would get worse in strategy than what you have experienced so far.Your new MBA will give you a good wrap around on the technical and PM skills - so why not take this into industry with an in-house role? Not sure what your sector experience is so best place to start would be to look at clients and sectors you have already established yourself with.

Agree with mars. Time to use your contacts at ex-clients to move in house to a management position. Join a big corporate ERP user in management position that includes some IT strategy and planning, but remains in your comfort zone of ERP knowledge. In 18 months you'll be able to shimmy over into nonERP roles. My 2p worth.
