Another vague question, but does anyone know how Deloitte's car scheme work? I.e. is it open to the Consultant grade and how much does it cost? Many thanks

It depends on how you play the cistern once you are there or whether the HR or BEP were feeling flush or taking the p**s when you got their offer dumped on you - either way its a corsa or a wipe your face on the offering old china - as for me Mars runs me to my clients - extremely tax efficient

As a Consultant you are given £600 flexible benefits to spend. This covers (not fully) the car scheme. The rest of it will be made up out of salary sacrifice. You can expect to sacrifice £100-300 of salary per month, pre-tax.The cars at your disposal will be similar to cars at the disposal of grades above you, as it is done on a salary sacrifice scheme. All available cars are carbon efficient. Once you reach Senior Consultant, your benefits will increase to £5000 and therefore should be able to fully cover a car in this (without the need for salary sacrifice).Hope this helps

Huge thanks Geronimo.Hopefully, I can get something in the low range for about £120pm.The car list available at my previous firm included cars as low as this, so hopefully Deloitte's list will too. Thanks again.

Out of interest, does it work out better tax wise than just taking the cash and getting a car yourself?

I'm yet to start so haven't seen the details yet - but I'm told it generally makes you better off taking the company car vs cash and buy.But I guess it depends on what car you get.
