I heard a report this week that Rory Underwood had taken up a career in the world of MC. Is this a common phenomenon? How well does this go down with clients? Do ex-sportsmen have value beyond the obvious kudos and motivational benefits they bring with them? Are there any ex reality stars working for - say, BAS?

Not a chance!

You might find a few ex-sports stars doing the rounds, but most sports now pay too handsomely for the stars to need to work consulting hours for <£100k salaries once their sporting careers are over. The odd rugby player (pre 2003) / athlete / failed tennis player might wash out in a professional services firm, but if you're a modern day sports star and have made your millions in sport, why would you do anything other than i) retire, ii) commentate on sport (ie. take a hobby) or iii) set up your own business backed by your own money?!

Quite a few retired sports stars have turned to guest speaking and do v well.At my co. Roger Black came along to talk about 'dedication, teamwork, motivation...' and was very good, certainly all the women thought so.

One of the partners in BOP has a brother in the Pet Shop Boys. Does that count as a celeb?

"Roland Berger himself IS actually some kind of celebrity in Germany"Hmm, that's not saying much. They set the celebrity bar real low there!

Yes. Look it up. McK also boasts a rugby world cup winning All Black captain (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Kirk).

Sound investment by Mckinsey. A collectible and truly rare - a winning All Black. What’s the difference between the All Blacks and an arsonist? An arsonist wouldn’t waste five matches.
