I have received an offer from Accenture in the ACG. I want to know how easy it is to change growth platform. You see, ACN don't tell you which alignment you are given, management consulting or technology consulting, until you start. I said in the interview that I was interested in management consulting, and I have no tech experience at all. However, only 30% of new joiners are aligned to MC apparently, the other 70% are in tech. If I am technology aligned, with a good bit of networking could I still get on management consulting projects (particularly T & OP), and eventually go down that path. From speaking to those at interview it seems a good 80% of grads want to go into management consulting, so I imagine many want to change growth platform and get on those projects. Is it feasible? Looking to the future I want to be a management consultant, not a technology consultant.

to get into MC you would have had a 3rd interview, if you didnt then you are aligned to technology growth platform within ACG. however, you might be able to get a role within ACG in a strategy but it will be hard.but to be honest TGP is more fun than MC, believe me..

I think your mistakenThe 3rd interview is only for those who have asked to be aligned to the strategy division, for the general ACG it is just 2 interviewsUnless of course you mean that if you didn't ask for a strategy interview then your immediately aligned to technology, and the good candidates who don't get into strategy after the 3rd interview are placed in management consulting.I certainly hope that's not the case. I didn't ask for a 3rd interview because I was not only interested in strategy and knew I wouldn't get in, but instead want to work in T and OP

I'm an Analyst aligned to Technology, but I've just left a very technology focussed project and am now on an MC project. It's possible - you just need the right contacts and to be able to make a strong enough case when someone is staffing a project.Another consideration is training - Tech aligned analysts go to Bangalore for one month following London training, MC aligned analysts used to go to Chicago (in fact all analysts tech or MC used to until Septemberish), but now will most likely do their training in the UK.Update: Also, please ignore the comments about a third interview for MC - this is wrong. There is a third interview to assess your suitability for Strategy consulting, though.

Wow - they got rid of Chicago. That used to be such an article of faith for ACN. "One Global firm" = go and get chipped in St Charles.

That is pretty cheap - Chicago was one of the better places to be to get the ACN chip pushed in.Then again, Deloitte does their training in the UK - although at pretty swanky places. Please tell me ACN isn't doing it at Milton Keynes? As for Bangalore, WTF? Great travel, sure, but it's basically saying "get ready to run remote testing teams".
