Hi,I am currently M1 in one of the big 4 with around 7 years of exp(only been 6 months in Big 4).Deloitte is offering me 58K as basic and 5K flexi benefits at SC level. It is little less than which I am currently getting. They are also saying that there is 10 - 15% bonus every year for SC.Is this something which is worth considering given the less salary and demotion of the current level ?Are there also big differences in the policies for SC & managers in Deloitte (Like Manager get Business class flight but SC dont etc..) ??

My advice would be for you to stay in your current position primarily based on the fact that you have only spent 6 months in a big 4. Moving from a manager grade down to SC at Deloitte within 6 months will not look good on your CV at all and will cause issues if you need to move on from Deloitte to another consulting firm in case things do not work out for you. Also wrto career progression, it would take you a minimum of 18 months to progress to the Manager grade post your move to deloitte and this could be significantly more if you are allocated to projects where you do not have a lot of scope to perform or if you are not well utilised. As you mention there are policy differences with respect to benefits between grades but I don't remember there being too much between an SC and a manager.

If you've not seen it this thread might be helpfulhttp://forum.top-consultant.com/UK/68587/21/SC-Vs-Manager-At-Deloitte/It's hard to advise without knowing which firm you're currently at and your motivations for looking elsewhere. If you're confident with your technical skills and subject knowledge in your current role then it's probably worth staying for 6 more months, and then reapplying as manager.

Thanks for the response guys.I am currently considering the pros and cons of joining Deloitte. I have been told that they can offer me around 58-59 k as base salary and the bonus. They told me that the bonus is around 10 % for almost every one.My doubts are as follows:Is this the maximum salary for SC ?Does everyone gets 10 % yearly bonus ?Thanks Crish

10-15% is true for the top performers unless things have changed in the last few years for the better. If you are going to be in the top 10-20% of your grade then you may get 10% or a bit more. Most get less than 10%. What they are quoting is a top end of their bonus. You can get more basic than that, but to get any significant rise you will need to get promoted to manager. It is possible to get promoted after a short period and you may well be told this. In practice vey few do and it will depend on getting enough influential partner support at that first review and outstanding reviews. I did know some people that rattled through the levels much faster than normal, but they are definitely the exception.
