I am desperate. I have rercently switched from a consultancy to another - to find out that the culture is poor, the people are tier 3 and the picture is not what was painted to me at all. Ive been here almost 3 weeks, and i already want to jump ship. Have i killed my career? Will employers understand this? How will they see me?Help!

Who did you move from to?Are you able to move back to your previous employer? I know a few people in the Firm I work who have "gone and come back" with similar reasons to yourself.

If it's that bad and definitely not going to get any better than perhaps you're best off doing one NOW? It would be easiest to go back where you came from, if possible. A couple of years down the line the 7 week episode could justifiably drop off the CV. Similarly you could just leave and get another job. The gap could then become a bit of a holiday or again disappear.People are allowed to make mistakes. Other people can accept this so don't panic. What you need to do is have a very careful think about why you made the move in the first place and why you need out now in order that you can present a reasoned story when asked about it. You need to get this aspect tied up though.

Yup. Cue the EY spinners telling us "its not just IBM rejects that work here you know - we get loads of cast offs from CGEY too"

No.... everyone is allowed the odd career crisis. It may be worth giving BAS a few months to see if you just have a bad case of buyer's remorse, but either way, in the future, it will be nothing to worry about. My very short lived stint at Deloitte (2 months) now makes interviewers laugh, I can prove I've learned some lessons from it and it didn't stop me getting the job I have (and love) nowGood luck!

Deloitte are fine- my personality and aspirations didn't fit. I left, I learned- noone seems to mind- not even Deloitte who have just offered to take me back (7 years and a few grey hairs later)

Things could be worse. You could have joined Mott Macdonald as a management consultant.
