Whats the typical bonus for a Consultant? How much should I brace myself for...£500? That'll be a cool £300 post tax profit for all those hard hours, makes it all worth it.

Yes, many employers do seem to think that £500 is sufficient recompense for their staff doing an extra 20 hours per week for 48 weeks of the year. That's why I always try and get out of the office by 5.30pm every day and never work weekends.

Firstly, just to be clear, I'm not a partner in deloitte nor are any of my comments about deloitte specificallyNow, the general answer to your question is that you pretty much have free reign as a partner. Nobody's going to question your hours. But, what they will question, with laser-like precision, is your contribution to the partnership. By which I mean financial contribution. So you have to make sure you're running a profitable business line. Within most partnerships there is some sort of understanding about just how much the partners want to try and earn each year, and everybody broadly has to be at around that level otherwise you stand out as a non-performer. So the answer is, you can pretty much not even bother turning up for work, just so long as you can show you're bringing in the readies...

So does anyone know what the bonuses are looking like this year? Can anyone give me a vague % indication?I have been told to expect £150 and I might be pleasantly surprised. Nice.

Bonus for a consultant on a 3 would be about 1,000 in a good year. That's about £600 take home. If you hadn't noticed, it's not been a good year and Deloitte are over staffed. Therefore half it. £300 - £400 take home. If you're in the top 10% you might clear 1k
