Hi, I'm 38 and a mid-career technology consultant. I'm doing pretty well. I've gotten really good at selling, designing and delivering six-figure sales and marketing technology solutions. I believe I've been able to consistently build expertise and that's reflected in my fees and the profits I derive from them. But I know I could provide more value through management/strategy consulting and it irks me to no end to be left out of that phase of the client engagement. I can't sell something I can't provide, however, so the question is how to learn management consulting. I believe I need either an eMBA or a stint at a Big 3/4 in a strategy position. Or both. What do you think? If you think this is a good approach, how do you recommend achieving it. Target a specific Big 4 (I reckon I'm too old and unusual a candidate for a Big 3)? Or...? As for formal business education, are there any UK eMBA programs (or other avenues) you would recommend for consulting? I'm more interested in substance -- really learning the art of management consulting -- than brand name. Thanks in advance for your input; my wife is sick of the subject :)
