Anyone had issues with returning to work after maternity leave? Promotion denied, worked long hours, put in the practice build time, and developing relationships. Sold on in an existing engagement, sold on in another role. What am I doing wrong??

I think they are career consultants...ie not experienced industry hires, so got pretty far along before they had kids. I have sought advice internally, obviously I'm getting the party line. Thats why I posted on the forum...so real people can share their experiences...not what the D&I policy is

Dear Motherconsultant,I have not experienced such a situation in peron, but I have seen one of my colleagues come back fom a maternity leave at top tier consultancy where we used to work together.I was amazed at the amount of hours she was working directly after coming back, so for sure she did not decrease her billability. What she did do, though, is that she got involved in more local projects, so that she decreased her travel time. In this way, she could still perform at top level, but she still managed to save travel time to be able to spend it with her baby. Maybe this was her trick? But, the truth is also that her husband took the paternal leave to take care of the baby in this period, so she was greatly supported in the process.Good luck with your re-adaptation,FemaleConsultanthttp://www.femaleconsultant.com

Having recently returned from Maternity leave I was told to get promoted I would have to work 5 days on client site (so 4 nights a week away from home). I didn't take the promotion- I think I'll get managed out even though I got on the plane while I was pregnant until they wouldn't let me on anymore. I'm looking else where for something more local :(Once you're not as flexible I don't think they want you. Boo!
