Okay.I am a Graduate with MBA and also an ACCA finalist (have 2 papers left). I have been working as an interim for the last 10 years.I have been looking for a new role for couple of months and not getting much joy (Manchester area). Sometimes we need a fresh pair of eyes to find problems. I would appreciate if you could give me your feedback as to any negatives what pop out of my CV. TBH I am interested in financial sector like CF, M&A, Transaction services and Internal Audit.May be I need to choose one specialism and stay in it. Any other advice / criticism?Cheers.Prince

you might be right about that.but do you think running own business comes across as a negative factor or would it be considered positive, say if someone was looking for an FD or a Risk Manager, would this add value?cheers

Basically any permanent employer will be very sceptical about anyone who has been interim for many years. Amongst the numerous reasons are: likelihood of unrealistic salary expectations; likelihood that you will take an interim job before the perm recruitment process has finished; lack of recent experience as a perm employee increase the risk you won’t like it or settle in; question mark about your motivations i.e. is it just because you can’t get well paid interim any more and will therefore leave as soon as a decent contract comes up; question re why you went interim (chasing the buck?); difficult to evaluate the quality of your experience and work compared with perm employment. I am not saying these are fair: but they are real reservations. I think your best chance is a) to get your ACCA finished b) follow up with personal network and contacts: your best bet is people who know you, not people who have to decide based in your CV alone .
