it still baffles me how the consulting firsm get away with it. There is often a need in a company to bring in people to audit, assess, study, analyse, strategise and make recommendations. Sometimes, consulting firms are the way to go. I suspect, however, that consulting firms are often engaged for the wrong reasons to do the work that contractors or well qualified temps could do. Unfortunatley there is so much pressure to sell projects that consulting is often sold in when it is not the right solution.
