Hi all,Hoping you can help me or offer some advice. I currently work in key account management for a telecommunications firm. In considering a career change, I really like the idea of working for a home builder, helping clients design their homes, color coordination, up-selling (but not heavy sales), picking features and also managing their plans etc.I have no experience in this area so I imagine I will need to study for a qualification. I really do not know how I get into this field of work and what I would need to study for. The closest thing I can think of is Contract/Construction Administration but Im unsure as to what I want to do comes under this and if its even necessary for me to study for IV certificate. Maybe a course in building regulations would suffice? Im not sure. Administration/account management is my strong point but any ideas on how I can transfer this to the construction industry? and Merry Xmas :)

berly1984 you don't need a qualification for this, you need carrots. Lots of them. That's what fluffy bunnies eat after all.

'Retard'. Unpleasant word which I cannot think of a circumstance in which I have used it in nearly 40 years.A few things:1. This is a management consultancy forum. It's not an interior design forum.2. If you bothered to read anything on this forum - let alone contributed - before simply coming on to an unrelated forum to your query and asking for advice on an irrelevant subject you would have spotted the often irreverant tone which usually precedes constructive advice and is intended to keep the forum amusing, engaging and lively. Obviously you simply couldnt be bothered. What lucky lucky clients you'll have as an interior designer or whatever it is you want to be. 3. You are an annoying little twerp. 4. Dont use the word retard. Ever. It was once applied to people, who for no fault of their own, had learning difficulties. Meet one and you'll never tolerate use of that word again. 5. P155 off.

And just so you know people who think they can throw their weight about on a public forum trying to be funny doesn't actually impress anyone. I imagine you'll probably want the last word as well.I think Ive wasted enough of my time acknowledging your posts.

I really like the idea of becoming a polar explorer, picking bits of ice I like, co-ordinating shades of white, comparing snowflakes, but all the sodding arctic and antarctic has been explored already.

scrap that I want to be a snowman decorator. I want to hum a languid version of Frankie Goes to Hollywood tunes while I advise clients on how to decorate and co-ordinate snowmen. I realise it will be seasonal work for the most part, although perhaps some people like to maintain snowmen looking dapper throughout the year in refridgerated storage containers ready for xmas in case we dont get any snow.Im not sure what qualification I need though. Would an MBA from somewhere like LBS or Harvard help? I really want this. More than anything since I saw that spacehopper. Wow!

MarsNot your usual self i see. I would have thought a reference to admin studies in Moscow, Rio, Mumbia or Bejing was in order - such countries whom have cornered this niche of construction admin market have even been referred to, and globally known as BRICs - i guess they must use many so worthwhile a look Beryl! Ps if you need any special equipment for geting rid of stuff you could try Bushy or RC on here - as partners they are your classic dumper
