Received an offer for an SC at Deloitte. Mid £40s, £600 bens. That seems particularly low, seems 52k + 5k-odd bens is standard. Especially since during the interview there was talk of deciding between SC or Manager...Have the salary scales recently changed, or something?

SC at Deloitte here. What you've been offered is Consultant, unless the role is in a service line other than Consulting. Regardless of starting salary, SC comes with £5,100 of flex benefits, whereas Consultant comes with £600. Don't think any SCs have a base of under £50k either.Have you had the offer in writing? I'm sure it'll say Consultant (M1) on there.
What you've been offered is Consultant, unless the role is in a service line other than Consulting.
Indeed, I thought the same. HR wants to confirm I'm happy with the amount before sending the full contract - though the same person has confirmed both in writing and on the phone that the offer is for a SC.Should be an SC in Risk. Unless they hit me with a 'tech' service-line salary?

Do you mean Enterprise Risk Services? If so, this isn't part of the Consulting service line and therefore may have different grading and salary boundaries - I don't know anything about it.Technology is part of Consulting, along with Strategy, People and Programmes, Customer etc. As far as I'm aware, all of these practices have broadly similar salaries at Consultant and Senior Consultant grades.Bravehearted - I actually started on an engagement in December as the team had an urgent resource need. I will be attending the 4 day welcome event over the next couple of months.

For ERS then you are pretty much on the mark. Many moons ago I joined as an SC and I worked with an SC for ERS who despite the same SC title was a grade below in terms of salary and bens.

The reason is that ERS skips the analyst gradeMore or less, ERS consultant is a Consulting analyst (even less money in ERS).ERS senior consultant is a Consulting consultant (money pretty much evens out at this stage)ERS manager is a Consulting senior consultant.ERS senior manager is a Consulting manager. And so on.
