Hi FolksI got an offer from Accenture for their IT Strategy & Transformation division as Team Lead. Its a pure IT Consulting role. Though I love IT Consulting, I am wondering if its possible to make a switch to Strategy consulting down the line. How could I prepare myself for this transition. If I get into Accenture Strategy Consulting, perhaps, after 2 years of IT consulting, Is it possible to make an entry into the MBBs or AtK. I have done my MBA from a top-tier institute in India and will start my post MBA career as IT Consultant with Accenture starting this June. Exploring the options for entry into Strategy Consulting. Your suggestions would help a lot

You could go and get some relevant qualifications, like an MBA

I already have an MBA (not an Ivy league though ) through which I made it to IT consulting. I am wondering if its possible to make it Strategy consulting in-house (Accenture Strategy practice) or outside

It's not impossible, but nearly. Too many variables to factor in though.But is says Strategy & Transformation on the tin, so that's got to be right, right?

Can I ask what makes you say that it is nearly impossible?To give you an idea I've a Physics Master's from a UK uni and just over 4 years at a Tier 1 firm.Thanks

shlobadov I was responding to MAK. But in any case it is nearly impossible, if you look at the odds of getting into MBB or the like. Which Tier 1 firm? Tier 1 is McKinsey, Boston and Bain.

Chaps and chappettes, There's a really easy way to do the Maths on this. Log on to LinkedIn, look up 100 McKinsey, Booz, Bain consultants and mark down how many of them have previously worked at Accenture.Oh, and if you can't access the detailed profiles of any MBB consultants on linkedin because their not in your wider network, then that also answers your question in a sort of square root of zero sort of way.

Sadly, in hindsight, I agree with you.......
