My background: PhD + 12 years experience on IT (5-year on consulting), now at manager level;IBM offer: Band 9, 80K basic, architect role;IB offer: VP level, 95K basic, also Architect roleSo far, I enjoy travelling and the variety of consulting projects. IBM vs. IB? Well it depends on the type you like to date-Jade Goody or her legendary Mum or someone like Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford

It depends on what's important to you. You'll have a more diverse work experience at IBM, where you'll work across multiple clients, but at a certain point your career will take on a sales side that you may or may not like. It's also a client-facing role, so you'll always have the tension of matching client needs/requirements with the profit/business needs of IBM.If you take the IB role, you've got more scope to grow technically (taking on larger projects and leadership roles) but ultimately you'll reach a certain level after which there won't be a clear career path.
