Hi all,I graduated Spring 2010 but still have the "naive, enthusiastic graduate" attitude to apply to a place I'd like to call home. I'd like to know the process for kids out of college but not quite "experienced hire."I bought a one-way to Asia when the US economy/job lottery wasn't getting better. The reason I left was I had a 2 year gap between my finance internship/rescinded offer and graduation. I know MC is very structured in recruiting, much like banking, so no one wanted a 2009/2-2010. I crashed career fairs, cold-called, and went door to door until I lucked out at an internship in China.I did unpaid internship to internship and hustled for a while (worked at a top 5 ad agency, top 3 asset manager) and ended up at the MNC in SE Asia, not a strategy consultant, but full time strategy in a junior role.I still have a job there after a very reputable engagement with the CEO, but I'd like to work in the States. I'm in the US now at a Morgan Stanley/Merrill-like brokerage for the summer, to buy some time.Since I am longer on-campus, and the jobs online require 1-3 years, I'm a bit stuck. It seems discouraging sometimes as a non-target, that trying to earn an interview takes all my time up. I'm afraid of the same story of 2009 repeating again this Fall (not eligible, not enough experience). What I have been doing is writing and FedEx-ing letters to partners, directors overseas and in the US. I'm spending my stipend doing this (it gets expensive). So far, I earned 1 interview for Accenture in the UK from applying online. If you guys who are working or recruiting could give some direction on what my strategy should be, I'd be most grateful. At the ad agency, I learned our founder once got $500 to open up a hotel, and his PR/direct marketing was to buy 500 postcards and stamps. My plan is to study cases until on campus recruiting starts in September, be brave and go to other colleges' career fairs (no consulting firm has ever come to my school), and keep writing letters. I know this is long, but thank you for the advice!-wolfy
