Guys,I have got excellent IT Business analysis, change management and business transformation experience ( total exp 10 years). I now want to work in Investment Banking sector as a BA. But i don't seem to be geting anywhere. I also passed a certificate course - IT in investment operations from CISI ( previously SII). But it seems only people who have Investment Banking experience are being considered. Any ideas how to apply where to apply? really want to get into IB domain..

I meant can you articulate why you are interested in IB over other sectors – retail banking, insurance, etc all use BA and transformation people, so what makes IB your target?

Personally i quite like the diffrent asset classes etc that IBs deal with. So working in IB operations ( front office or for that matter other areas like post settlement ares etc will really make a difference to my day to day work. I read a lot of trading etc and to get involved with while actually working there will be a huge plus for me. Also there are loads of challanges which can be proactively identified by a BA who is upto it, so on paper one can come up with a lot of innovative soluttions and ways of doing things. From what i have heard from a lot of people there is a great deal of scope as far as optimising/trnasforming syatems and processes are concerned.

Blah, blah, blah... in other words, you want more money. At least be honest and say it. Then it will become clear that you don't really have much to bring to the table - no wonder you are not getting anywhere.

I suspect you are coming across as rather naive - that's certainly how the last post reads. In the big IBs you are not going to breeze in as a BA and identify some whopping process transformation opportunity - it tends to be about shaving fractions of a percent off something with a large number behind it. You need to identify one area and get deep in it in order to build your value proposition - there is no value to IBs in a generic BA
