Hi everyone, The short story is that I've been a consultant for 6 years (2 x Big 4) and now work in an Transaction Services / Operational Advisory service line (not EY!). Basically I can't handle the hours of this trade anymore, its destroying my relationship and that is more important to me if I'm honest. My question is this: how doe sone find out what roles are our there for consultants in areas other than consulting? I appreciate there are recruitment agencies etc...but I don't know where to start in assessing where I would fit in an organisation with my skill set / experience and to be honest what I'd like to do!? Would appreciate any pointers from those who have jumped off the ladder before? Thanks

TS/Ops isn't my area, so can't suggest specifics. However, have you tried looking at the recruitment agencies who cover TS/Ops consulting, and seeing what industry positions they have on the books. Odds are there are some commonalities.

As someone who recently made the opposite switch, I can empathise.I'd try the usual big agencies but also try your own networks from industry, not all company postings make it to the outside world - even when there's no internal candidate in mind. With respect to the question on skillset and placement, I'd assume that after 6 years in big4 consultancies you're fairly adaptable, but would suggest any of the major banks as they all have inhouse Tech/Ops functions and 'internal consultant' roles are commonplace in these, I was previously titled "Change Mgr" in Barclays Group Ops but effectively held a consulting type role and had no domain specific technical skills.
