There might be revolution in China very soon - which in my own opinion could spell doom for global economy. Why not wait until the dust settles.

What if the Libyan-type crisis erupts in China? What will happen to the world economy? Can the UN impose similar sanctions on China? Just being curious because I can see the handwriting on the wall.

Early in my career (10ish years ago) I worked in Singapore, and in Beijing and Guangzhou (near HK) - they are worlds apart. Standards of living may have moved on since then but the income inequality was (and likely still is) shocking. If you want a "westernized" Asian work experience with all the mod cons by all means go to HK and SG; I suspect some of you would not last 6 months in mainland China simply because of the pollution, congestion and bone-crushing poverty in all the major cities.

You guys that have worked in all these crazy far flung places make me chuckle. You can hardly interview anyone these days without them saying they spent 6 months in "GHFDSKSAFOLLA" and a year in "OERWJRJSLFJSWJKRJKESTAN".Usually, these same folk who have racked up 500,000 air miles and 25,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions are the ones that sort their eggboxes from their milk bottles and freak out if somebody prints single-sided on a piece of paper.Bring on peak oil!
