Hello. I've been lurking on here for a while and you lot seem like a nice friendly bunch.....Anyways, I'm starting with Accenture as an M1 in the UKDC in a few weeks. Has anyone got any tips for starting out or any general advice on what to look out for. I guess I'd be most interested on which area in Accenture folks generally find the least nasty. I've got a technical background and moved into Project Management 4 years ago. I'm not especially worried by money or career progression right now, it's more about doing something interesting and fulfilling to me.... that is if I get any choice in my placement or client....

Hi cb - as an M1 equivalent in the UKDC you will have more leeway on assignments than a typical consulting resource. Most large engagements will have a need for Project Management experience. Personally I would recommend C&HT and FS roles for being more London centric and Products for sheer size and visibility. There are really no bad engagements, only bad engagement managers - and knowing who to avoid comes with experience.

Thanks for the tips! I was kinda assuming that everybody got a mobile phone nowadays. I like to keep my own as well anyway....Totally understand the "non bad assignments" sentiment. If you are working with good people you can make the best of anything. Are there any other little useful nuggets that a noob such as myself might find useful?

Congrats on the offer and all the best for the ride ahead. The only advice I can give is to be yourself, work smart and be proactive...It's not too difficult to get into a role that you are interested in - and dont believe all the nonsense and negative comments made here - it's not all true.Be loud, make yourself heard and work well - and you will have a fab time here :-)Aces

That's the ACN Way.No other consultancy even remotely compares to ACN, which is by far the Leader in its field. The Best companies use ACN. Go on, Be a Tiger.
