I hear that KPMG Advisory is expanding at the moment.Any thoughts/views/opinions on what's going on there and whether it's worth considering?

Expanding in the Netherlands. After a lull in recruiting they are going for it fully atm. Especially IT Advisory is recruiting a lot, both for Performance & Technology and Risk & Compliance. Both sections are heavily linked with IT Audit. The Risk & Compliance sustainability branch is growing as well with a lot of carbon footprint reduction jobs, but also linked with audit. They are looking for a lot of people with 3-7 years of work experience and are currently somewhat lacking in managers.

For IT Advisory and accounting it'll depend on whether you like annual audit and want to become RE/RA/CISC etc.For Corporate Finance it'll depend on whether you like investment banking, excel modelling and getting your CFA.For TAS in general it depends on whether you like commercial and financial due dilligence.

Ah, OK. IT Advisory sounds OK, yet the description they sent me talks about all sorts of stuff I would call more suited to an Excel jockey. They want their IT Advisors to be experienced in C++ for crying out loud. How many MC's do you know that are skilled in C++? For that matter, how many CIOs do you know that are C++ gurus? It sounds like a right mish-mash to me. I can't understand exactly what it is that they really want.

I could see the C++ coming in if they are selling portfolio reviews or risk/pricing qa as part of their Risk offering within FS (historically they've had a strong functional Risk practice but lacked the corresponding technologists) - but you wouldn't expect that to be a widely needed skillset. Maybe the description they sent you was for something very specific rather than general IT advisory capacity?
