I suggest applying for an entry-level MBA position (typically "Associate"), with a guarantee to be evaluated for next level promotion ("Sr. Associate" or "Manager", depending on the firm) within a year or so. The reason is for your own self-interest. Running an engagement or project team in a consulting environment is entirely different from an in-house project team. From how you should treat your direct reports and the Client, to the level of analysis and reports you have to generate. You want to break yourself in gradually, as opposed to "leaping from the frying pan and into the fire".
