A question for the techies-I am planning a career change and exploring SAP and Oracle. Based on consultancy requirements, career prospects, organisations using these technologies, the future of these, etc., I would like to pick one. Also, does anyone know if the SD (Sales & Distribution) module of SAP is a popular one?Any advice would be useful.

ORACLE will be struggling with integration of all the companies and products they have bought for quite som time I think.SD is maybe not so hot though,... lots of people know it,.. most implementations already done,.. go for CRM instead is my advice.

Oracle will open up the doors to America for you, but for a European-based consultant I'd go for SAP every time. Huge demand for specialists in BPS/BCS right now.

Thanks both. Would you go for the 5.0 version of CRM?

What would a well-established consulting firm pay a person with a non-technical background for a functional SAP role? I have an MBA and industry experience- sales and marketing. I believe I have an aptitude for and a keen interest in technology. At the age of 30, would a career shift into SAP be viable? I have been exploring this for a while now. Thanks for your help.
