Hi All,How good is an MBA from IIM in India? I have heard that the top global organisations queue up there every year to campus-recruit IIM MBAs for UK and US placements..even BCG, etc. How well is an IIM MBA percieved by the top firms here in the UK?

Never heard of it.I'd be very wary of getting an MBA from the third world. Why not go to someplace in Europe or the US instead?

I can gaurantee you, even if you get in, you won't be ablee to stay there for more than a few couples. I agree 100% with tom-toms view. 1st, India IS a thirld-world country - and this is defined by the United Nations Economic Forum. 2) In the UK / US you might find some people that recognize what IIM is. I can guarantee you that in other European countries, such as Italy, France and Spain - you would have a HUGE diffulty in explaining what it is and how much its worth. I dont particularly appreciate your racist comments ( yes, you can be racict towards whites too). What you have just proven is that 1) you are a racist 2) you are ignorant 3) you do not have any class.Tomtoms message was honest and correct. The IIM does not even appear on the FT's top 100 MBA schools. If i were you I would apologize - and learn to be humble. Looks like you could use it.

I think the above posts represent two opinions which are equally offensive, but on different sides of the scale. On a forum made up of professional Management Consultants, one would hope people would be more respectful towards eachother and have more integrity, despite which country a person may come from. With the views represented above, I would be suprised if the people posting them get very far in the industry.

I agree entirely with the last post. If you are going to be successful you need some better, more civilised manners; rather more reality; respect for your fellow human beings; and a lot more emotional intelligence. If any business school is not on and near the pinacle of the top global listings then these days the reality is that anyone spending lots of their own hard-earned money to go there and get their MBA will see no adequate ROI on their investment!

I agree with the last two posts. I speak as an Indian myself. The comments by Z are offensive in that India is labelled a third world country. The fact the this is UN Economic Forum's definition is no less helpful. Equally, the reactionary outburst by my fellow Indian is uneccessary. Listen chap - there's no point fighting prejudice of any kind with more prejudice. It makes no sense whatsoever.
