First, you should be doing your homework before any interview, or even posting. Some of these questions are so basic that they could have been answered by going to PRTM's web site or a good referece site like vault.com. You won't get past the first round of interviews for any consultancy without doing your homework.A few basic answers:(1) what they do (strategy, operations, IT, etc)? OPERATIONS STRATEGY. Basically a combination of business strategy, product development management, operations/manufacturing/supply chain management, and sales/marketing/care management. Not focused on IT, except for how it impacts management. A lot of focus on program management and change management.(2) what services do they offer? SEE THEIR WEB SITE. Best known in the past for the PACE product development management framework and the SCOR supply chain management framework. (3) which industry sectors do they work in? HIGH TECH BROADLY DEFINED. Includes electronics, software, services, aerospace, auto, pharma, medical devices, chemicals, and process industries such as packaged goods. Some government work in the U.S.(4) what is their reputation within the consultancy industry? GREAT PLACE TO WORK. Focus on work-life balance and very intimate environment with low ratios of partners to consultants.(5) what choices will I have in terms of my career growth after working in this company for (say) 5 years? TO INDUSTRY AS MANAGEMENT. Lots of choices. People have left and become anywhere from Manager to President of companies. Most who leave as consulting managers or principals land as either senior manager, director, or VP depending on industry and cpmpany size that they go to.(6) MOST IMPORTANTLY (!!) what salary can I expect for the role of Associate? I have 8 years experience with 1 year as a consultant and I am currently pursuing my MBA from a premier b-school. COMPETITIVE with consulting in general. Probably a bit better than IT frms, but not quite as nice as McKinsey. Then again, you won't content with 100 hour weeks either.
