Hi,I've recently been offered a digital manager role in Barclays at the AVP grade (Band 5) - I was wondering if anyone has insight on the typical salary and compensation package for the AVP grade? What's the main difference between AVP and VP in Barclays? Thanks

AVP is the next tier above Analyst. Barclays have main groupings for grades, then two informal sub-groups within each:Analyst/Graduate (0 - 3 years experience) First year analyst Second year analyst (can be skipped if you're good)AVP (2 - 5 years experience)VP (4 - 50 years)Often the tier people stop at. You need to be leading a small team or business area I believe (e.g. Digital lead for a product) to be a VP.In salary terms, it varies depending on the area of the business you're in. For Corporate I believe Analyst starts about 33k and goes up to about 38k. I know AVPs who are on 40k and I know one on 56k. Bonuses of circa 10%.If you're joining the investment bank, your salary and bonus package will be higher. I know an AVP in back office on 60k although believe the upper limit for this is significantly higher. His bonus I believe was 20%.It would be good to understand if your offer is aligned with the above, if you aren't opposed to sharing.Hope this helps - congratulations on your offer.W

Thanks Whizz! That was very helpful. what are the informal groupings for AVPs? I'm still in negotiation, but have previously mentioned my minimum expected salary is around £50,000 (given my strong digital experience and background).Do you know if the benefits package/allowance is fixed for the AVP grade or does it vary from person to person?Regards,K

No worries - happy to help.My understanding is that the boundaries aren't defined, so you won't be a 'Junior AVP' or a 'Senior AVP'. It may be something to do with promotion (i.e. need a years service in role or it could be that this only applies to Analysts, let me check and find out.Are you applying for Corporate, Retail, Wealth or Investment? If Retail, you're doing well to get 50. Corporate would be about right, Investment you can and should push for more money. Not sure on Wealth. I believe that the benefits package (25 days holiday, options to purchase shares etc) are fixed but again not 100%. Most corporate companies tend to fix their benefits packages for non-management grades. W
