I am Sales and Business Development executive and have a new consulting business. I have a monthly retainer to manage a client's existing International customers and aggressively develop new business. They do pay my dedicated Intl. travel expenses and future brokerage on sales volume. When I am meeting with client's customers, potential customers or at a trade show internationally dedicated to my client for 3-4 days; I have limited time to work on other clients projects or find new clients. Although I am on monthly retainer, am I justified to charge an incremental daily or trip based consulting fee because I'm out of the country for days dedicated to my clients business?Do other consultants charge a daily or event specific fee while on a retainer or future % of sales brought in?Thanks for the insight.
