Hi please can someone tell me what type of backgrounds students at LBS come from or how easy/hard it is to get into LBS? i.e. do they only accept people from the top universities? Would they accept people from 2nd tier universities such as Aston, Nottingham etc...who have 3-4 years consulting experience from Accenture, Capgemini, Deloitte etc...?

On LBS website, there's a link to Class of 2008 brochure. This gives background of each MBA student (doesn't cover educational background, but does cover work experience).

An ex-colleague did her MBA at LBS. Prior to entry, she had an undergrad degree from a bible college and five years in medical sales in the US. Not the most common background, but shows top academics and work experience are not necessarily critical.

I'd suggest that you visit one of the LBS open evenings or Saturday sessions and interact with the student body. This would give you a picture of the demographic and whether you could fit in with the crowd. After all, much of B-school is filled with team-based activities. One point to note is that you are assessed on the total package, i.e. your undergrad grades, quality of work-ex, what you do outside of work, what you have achieved etc. Going to Aston, say, would not hold you back if you have a rich work-ex of leading teams and achieving great things in and outside work. Of course, you need to include the GMAT score in the package. All the best!
