Does anyone have insight on Alix Partners, the so called Top 1 turnaround consulting firm? I was in the discussion with some of the people from the firm regarding a VP role. The work sounds really exciting. But I have no idea what level VP stands in terms of job responsiblity and compensation. Appreciate if someone can provide me a good answer.

As Alix does not employ any analysts or consultants VP is actually the lowest level they offer (a VP described it as "chieftain without indians"). Most VP have worked as managers in strat consulting before and the pay seems to be comparable or even slightly higher (as they are able to attract managers from tier 1 and 2 companies). Work is very operative - Alix Directors often act as interim managers.

Is there any specific number on its compensation structure for VP? When you say comparable or higher, what is the base of comparison? big 4 associate vs. alix VP?

if you look at website of Alix in Germany (that where I live) about 50% of their people worked for Roland Berger before (market leader in restructuring) and there are also some ex McK, ATK, BCG etc

Jason, what do you mean by 'know them well'? I am now seriously thinking of joining them. After talking to those people for more than 5 times, I am kind of convinced they are really good. Much better than big 4 ......
