Hey GuysIm new to this forum and consulting (being doing this for 6 months)For 3 years of my IT career I did system and network admin/engineering as well as tech support work. Then I got a job as a ITl consultant and I like the work I do and the people in my company but I hate the work culture here. On average I work 45 hours a week and I work on average in the weekend once a month (only 2 hours remotely)Will it be bad if I leave the company after only being here for 8 months? I dont get time in leiu for working extra or paid overtime. I also do not have my job description ( I have a job contract though) and sone other annoyibg things

No, this is not normal in consulting. You currently have a part-time role.

Which company do you work for? Some are better than others in terms of culture, but generally consultancy does not have a good work life balance, hence why some aim to move to industry after several years.

It is not an issue dude. It happens in consultancy so keep some Patience and everything will be alright. You don't need to change your company. Charliefleabag is right, you are in a part time role for now.But if you are not satisfied with your job profile then you can try for other company. I was working in IT company but I was not feeling myself secure there. Then I hired an IT recruitment company and they placed me at the perfect designation.

45 hours a week is low for consulting. Many people leave consulting after a relatively short period. Just be honest about it - it wasn't for you.(Part timer) [quote]Hey GuysIm new to this forum and consulting (being doing this for 6 months)For 3 years of my IT career I did system and network admin/engineering as well as tech support work. Well, this is a part and parcel of being an early consultant. I guess 8 months of a project is not a small one.Best of luck for future contracts.
