Value of CIMA and growth areas

HiI'm coming to the end of a graduate scheme at one of the big 4 and need to start considering which sector and capability area to align myself too. One of the major factors I'm bearing in mind is the opportunity to do the Full CIMA qualification in specific areas. I was wondering how CIMA was viewed generally in consulting? I understand that there's the risk of being pigeon holed as an accountant (especially coming from big 4) but I think the credibility it adds as well as the relevance to lots of the work I've done would make it really useful. Also, more generally, which are the areas with the best growth prospectives? Thanks

I know lots of people in consulting who have also obtained this qualification. I think it will only do you good and give you more exit options.

You say you are looking to do the "full" CIMA qualification once you finish the grad scheme at Big4.What qualification did you/will you get once you finish the scheme? I would assume ACA or ACCA? Just curious as most Big4 grads seem to stick their noses up a CIMA believing their own qualification to be superior (incorrectly IMO).

Thanks for your response Coldsteel.Just to clarify, the graduate scheme I'm currently doing at the Big 4 is in the advisory practice so the only qualification I'll have at the end is the CIMA certificate level.

I think it can only help.Even if you decided to leave consultancy and move into industry/SME or anything else at least you'll be a Chartered Management Accountant and will have a profession to fall back on.
