Hi all, would be interested in having your opinions on this Linkedin etiquette question: I have worked with a client for about 5 months, I had a good relationship with the guy I was working with, and now one year later he has asked for a recommendation in linkedin, BUT:- he's now leaving the client company, not with good grace, - we are still working with that company, I might go back to that project again - my bosses consider him a loser (and they might have also had a role in his exit), my bosses and other client stakeholders will all see in linkedin if I endorse him- if I don't endorse him should I send him a polite explanation - what to say?- I might need his recommendation one day! any suggestions? Of course it's not really something that keeps me awake at night, but would be interested to hear your opinions, at the moment I'm for the "do nothing" option.

Do nothing.that way you will only make one enemy however, think about the enemies you will make should you recommend him!!this is not an ideal world and people do not give a damn to how good a person is in his work if he is not good in keeping those morons happy. Also you mentioned you may need his reference one day but why you want that one day come so soon in your life......regds

Recommend only someone you feel happy to attach your own reputation too: if you are uncomfortable recommending this individual then don't.

Pretend that you did not get the email. Think about your own career before thinking of other people.
