Dear Ladies and Gents,I'm currently at offer stage and close to offer stage with 3 firms. The first is PwC and the other 2 are Capgemini & Accenture.I will be an experienced hire from industry with 10 years relevant experience within Strategy and Transformation. As a Business Management Consultant is it better to be engaged by one of the "Big 4", albeit an auditing firm, or one of the other professional service consulting firms like the 2 mentioned above?I would welcome a healthy debate and some view points from people already in the sector possibly with experience of the aforementioned firms. Many thanks in advance.Cashe

At the end of the day the biggest factor is whether they do the kind of work you're interested in, and whether you like the people / atmosphere. From a reputation / exit opportunities / quality of work & clientele perspective, PWC right now is the best of the 3 you mentioned, followed by ACN, and then Cap (but Cap trails by quite a distance). From personal & friends' experience, my personal view would follow the same order: these days Deloitte & PWC are doing great, ACN is somewhere not too far behind those two, and Cap... just avoid Cap.

Hi baykus, Thanks for your reply.Out of a matter of interest, why is Cap so far behind? Is it just because they are half the size in terms of revenue and employees; maybe their public sector dependence or is it something else? They did give me the hard sell on how the future is "bright" with Cap but of course they would. The trick is reading between the lines.Cashe

Cap has been selling that line for quite a while now. There are a few threads here discussing the good and bad of cap, but it boils down to the fact that they just aren't competitive with the big players and do not win the more interesting work or attract top talent - then again, their strategy seems to be going all in for low-value public service work, so maybe it's intentional. On a personal note, I interviewed with them quite a while ago. I realise that a single anecdote doesn't constitute a fact base, but in my experience they were inept yet arrogant, and had nothing interesting to say about their work - the interview was a mess from start to finish. I turned down their offer without a second thought.

Once again baykus thank you for your view point.I have had a really good dig around on all of Capgemini's threads in this forum and your views are shared by many. What is striking by it's absence is the lack of people promoting or defending Cap.Is there anybody else reading this thread with a positive view of Capgemini? If so I would welcome your comments.
